Food Experience

Carried by Currents; Migration and it’s Effect on NL Food Traditions
This food experience invites guests to a multi-course meal, anchored by
local ingredients, influenced by cooking methods and flavours brought here
by various waves of immigrants since the 1500s

Like a speakeasy, we are not open to the general public; only guests of The
Rooms At Woody Point (and their friends) may participate. We serve on
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday by reservation only. On Thurs at 6 pm
which allows our guests to catch a show we highly recommend. Details
here: www.woodypointofview.com

On Tuesday and Saturday, a 6:30 start offers a more leisurely pace and
allows for friendly conversation after dinner.

The evening begins in the French tradition with an amuse-bouche and a
“cup of tea” in the speakeasy tradition. In NL, the voice intonation of “a cup
of tea” indicates whether a snack is included and what could be in the cup
that might resemble tea. 😉 While you enjoy your “tea”, your host and chef
Donna, will regale you with a lively (and relatively factual) story about the
food traditions of NL. As each course is served you will be entertained with
information about the ingredients, and influences on, the dish you are
enjoying.

This meal is suitable for omnivores and pescatarians. It can be offered
gluten free but NOT dairy free. It is not suitable for strict vegetarians or
vegans. The main course is fish (no shell fish).

Expect the evening to take about 1.5 hours unless you want to stay for a
“yarn” (a word for story telling in NL; possibly true and possibly not) after dinner.

The cost is $75 per person plus tax and gratuity. Wine paring is available
for $25 or feel free to bring along your own.
